Ronaldo explains why he ‘deserved’ to win the Champions League
Man of the Match
Cristiano Ronaldo is never modest at the best of times, and now he’s won not only La Liga, but also made history by winning the Champions League back to back, he’s made it very clear that he feels it’s nothing less than he deserves.
He also managed to score his 600th career goal on the night, a brace for Real Madrid, and pick up the Man of the Match award to boot.
Now, he’s spoken about the season in which Real made history, and claimed it’s no less than what they – and he – deserve.
He said after the final in Wales: “It has been an incredible end to the season by us.
“We are the first team to win it two years in a row and I scored two goals.
“It’s another record for us and the players deserve it and so do I because I scored twice and I’m the top scorer in the Champions League.”
Ballon d’Or
Now, many people are claiming that the forward should win the Ballon d’Or, and looking at the amount of trophies he’s managed to win in only a year, it’s pretty clear the vast majority of voting will be for him.
There were also shouts for Gigi Buffon and Dani Alves before the final – but after the Real Madrid man’s star turn in the final, both Ronaldo and Real Madrid fans feel the individual award should be his.
