Cristiano Ronaldo wants James Rodriguez to stay and fight at Real Madrid, but would understand if he departed this summer

CRISTIANO RONALDO is not given up hope James Rodriguez will stay on at Real Madrid, but will understand if he decided to move on this summer.

James has struggled to make the desired impact in Spain since his big money move from Monaco, after winning the 2014 World Cup Golden boot in Brazil.

The Colombian has been frozen out by Los Blancos coach Zinedine Zidane, and is expected to be on the bench for Saturday’s Champions League final against Juventus in Cardiff.

Manchester United and Inter Milan have been linked with the 26-year-old, but Ronaldo wants the South American star to stay and fight for his place.

Ronaldo revealed to La Sexta:”James has his reasons [to leave] and we have to respect them.

“If he doesn’t feel happy and if he wants more, then he should look for the best thing for him.
“If he asked my opinion, I would tell him to stay.
